# Social Snowball Pricing: The $899 Plan Can Cost Less

Social Snowball publishes two plans on its Shopify listing and the cheap one stops being cheap at a volume most of its target customers already clear. **Snow Day starts at $249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue. Blizzard starts at $899 a month and its feature list ends with the bullet "No usage charges."** Both were read from the live [Snowball: Affiliate Marketing](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball) listing on 8 October 2026.

Set the two against each other and the crossover is exact. **Above roughly $21,700 a month in affiliate revenue, the $899 plan bills less than the $249 plan.** At $50,000 a month in affiliate revenue, Snow Day costs $1,749 and Blizzard costs $899, a gap of $10,200 a year.

Snow Day's own feature list includes "Prevent fraud & code leaks". Hold that thought, because it decides what the 3% is actually charged on.

## Key takeaways

- Snow Day's charges line reads "Starts at $249/m + 3% of affiliate revenue." Blizzard's reads "Starts at $899/m" with no percentage, and the plan advertises "No usage charges".
- The crossover sits at $21,667 a month in affiliate revenue. Below it, Snow Day. Above it, Blizzard saves money and the saving grows with every additional dollar of affiliate revenue.
- Both prices are floors. The word on both cards is "Starts at", and Blizzard's charges line adds that "After installing, our team will set you up with a custom plan tailored to your needs."
- The $249 entry price is the highest in Shopify's affiliate category. [BixGrow](https://apps.shopify.com/bixgrow-affiliate-marketing) runs unlimited affiliates, programs and orders for $19.99 a month, and [GoAffPro](https://apps.shopify.com/goaffpro) charges nothing at any volume on its free plan.
- The listing read 4.5 stars from 211 reviews on 8 October 2026, with 190 five-star and 5 one-star reviews. Among the affiliate apps whose listings were read the same day, only Shopify Collabs rated lower, at 4.2.
- TikTok Shop, creator search and outreach, social listening and UGC all sit on Blizzard. The $249 plan does not include them.

## The two plans, exactly as the listing prints them

Every rating, review count and price below was read from the live Shopify App Store listing on 8 October 2026, and the app name links to that listing so you can check it in one click.

| Plan | Monthly floor | Usage charge | What the card adds |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Snow Day | $249 | 3% of affiliate revenue | Unlimited affiliates, influencer management, post-purchase referrals, automated payouts, fraud and code-leak prevention, tiers and gamification, live chat |
| Blizzard | $899 | None advertised | Everything in Snow Day, plus TikTok Shop, creator search and outreach, social listening, UGC, Instagram DM chat, white-glove onboarding and a dedicated CSM |

Two things about that table deserve saying out loud.

First, the panel shows two cards and carries a "See all pricing options" link to Social [Snowball](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball)'s own site. **Two tiers is not the same as a two-tier ladder**, and the listing does not rule out anything between or above them. Shopify's [App Store requirements](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/shopify-app-store/app-store-requirements) state at 4.2.1 that an app must "Provide accurate and complete pricing information", so take the two cards as the published floor rather than the whole structure.

Second, Blizzard's charges line and its feature bullet say different kinds of thing. The bullet says "No usage charges". The charges line says "Starts at $899/m. After installing, our team will set you up with a custom plan tailored to your needs." A custom plan negotiated after installation is not a published price, so the arithmetic below is exact on the numbers the listing prints and provisional on the bill you will actually receive.

## What the two plans cost at six levels of affiliate revenue

The 3% is the whole story on Snow Day. At $5,000 a month in affiliate revenue it adds $150 to the bill; at $100,000 it adds $3,000.

| Monthly affiliate revenue | Snow Day $249 + 3% | Blizzard $899 | Cheaper plan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| $5,000 | $399 | $899 | Snow Day, by $500 |
| $10,000 | $549 | $899 | Snow Day, by $350 |
| $21,667 | $899 | $899 | Identical |
| $25,000 | $999 | $899 | Blizzard, by $100 |
| $50,000 | $1,749 | $899 | Blizzard, by $850 |
| $100,000 | $3,249 | $899 | Blizzard, by $2,350 |

The crossover is worth stating as a rule rather than a row: **divide $650 by 0.03 and you get $21,667**, which is the affiliate revenue at which the $650 monthly step between the two plans is fully recovered by the 3% you stop paying.

Past that point the saving compounds in your favour, which is unusual. On most Shopify apps the expensive tier is a worse deal the further you push it, because the monthly fee rises and the per-unit rate falls slowly. Here the expensive tier is flat, so every additional dollar of affiliate revenue widens the gap by three cents.

A programme doing $100,000 a month in attributed affiliate revenue pays $38,988 a year on Snow Day and $10,788 a year on Blizzard. That difference buys the dedicated CSM several times over.

## The 3% is levied on a base you do not fully control

Here is where the fraud bullet comes back. Social [Snowball](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball) charges its percentage on affiliate revenue, which means revenue the app attributes to an affiliate link or code.

Codes leak. An affiliate posts a discount code to a private audience, someone scrapes it onto a coupon aggregator, and the code starts converting traffic that was already yours. Those orders carry the affiliate's code, so they count as affiliate revenue, so they attract the 3%. You pay twice: once in commission to a partner who did not earn it, once in usage fees to the app that recorded it.

**Snow Day sells leak prevention and charges the percentage on the same card.** Blizzard inherits the leak prevention and drops the percentage. So the plan with the cleaner incentive is the expensive one, and you reach it by growing the base the cheap plan taxes.

That is not an accusation of bad faith, and anti-leak tooling on an entry plan is more than several competitors offer at any price. It is a reason to audit your attribution before you model the bill, because the number the 3% multiplies is not the number in your own affiliate dashboard unless the two agree on what counts.

## Social Snowball as an app, not as a price list

**Best for:** brands running creator and influencer programmes at scale on TikTok and Instagram, where the affiliate roster is recruited rather than inbound and someone owns it as a job. Blizzard's creator search, social listening, Instagram DM chat and TikTok Shop integration are the only set of those four in Shopify's affiliate category, and the flat price above $21,700 in monthly affiliate revenue means a programme that doubles does not double its software bill. If your affiliate motion is really an influencer motion, this is the app built for that shape.

**Not ideal for:** stores below roughly $8,000 a month in affiliate revenue, where the floor swallows the budget and the arithmetic never rescues it. At $8,000 in monthly affiliate revenue Snow Day bills $489, which is more than a full year of BixGrow Scale at $215.88 annually, and GoAffPro's free plan carries unlimited revenue at no cost at all. A store still validating whether anyone will promote it is paying twelve times the category's going rate to find out. It is also the wrong purchase for a merchant who needs the final price before committing, because both cards say "Starts at" and Blizzard's says a custom plan follows installation.

Social [Snowball](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball) runs on 3,337 Shopify stores. Its live listing read 4.5 stars from 211 reviews on 8 October 2026, with 190 five-star and 5 one-star, and the Built for Shopify badge is present on the page. Note the review base: 211 reviews is thin next to [UpPromote](https://apps.shopify.com/affliate-by-secomapp) at 3,863, so weigh the pricing structure more heavily than the star rating when you compare them.

**What it actually does**

- Post-purchase referrals, which turn a buyer into an affiliate at the thank-you page rather than waiting for an application. The listing names this on the entry plan.
- Fraud and code-leak prevention plus tiers and gamification on Snow Day, and automated payouts through Tremendous, which is the payout rail most of the category lacks.
- Creator search and outreach, social listening, UGC collection and Instagram DM chat on Blizzard, plus a TikTok Shop integration.
- Integrations named on the listing for Klaviyo, Knocommerce, Tremendous, Zapier, Instagram and TikTok Shop.

**What to check before you commit**

Ask what counts as affiliate revenue before you sign, in writing. The attribution window, whether coupon-code orders without a click are included, and whether refunded orders are netted out all change the 3% base, and the listing does not specify any of them.

Then ask what the custom plan is. Blizzard's charges line promises one after installation, which means the published $899 is an opening position. Get the number for your volume while you still have the option of not installing.

Last, if you are buying this for the creator tooling, the FTC's rules apply to what those creators publish. [The FTC's endorsement guides](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking) state that a creator paid a commission has a material connection that must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously in the post carrying the link, and that the advertiser is expected to train partners on disclosure and monitor what they publish. Social listening and UGC collection make that monitoring easier. They do not make it optional.

## Where this sits against the rest of the category

Four pricing shapes compete in Shopify's affiliate apps, and Social [Snowball](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball) is the only one that abandons its percentage entirely at the top. [The full fee comparison across the category](https://joy.so/blog/best-shopify-affiliate-apps/) prices each shape at named revenue levels, and [the three-way comparison of UpPromote, GoAffPro and BixGrow](https://joy.so/blog/uppromote-vs-goaffpro-vs-bixgrow/) covers the apps holding most of the installs.

If the programme you actually want is customers referring friends rather than creators selling for commission, the payout plumbing is different and so is the right tool. [The referral app comparison](https://joy.so/blog/shopify-referral-apps/) covers that side. Code leaks are the failure mode both motions share, and [the guide to loyalty and referral fraud prevention](https://joy.so/blog/loyalty-fraud-prevention/) covers the mechanics of catching them.

## Frequently asked questions

**How much does Social Snowball cost?** Snow Day starts at $249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue. Blizzard starts at $899 a month with no usage charge advertised. Both figures were read from the live listing on 8 October 2026, and both cards use the words "Starts at".

**Does Social Snowball have a free plan?** No. The listing's pricing summary reads "From $249/month", which is the highest entry price among Shopify's self-serve affiliate apps.

**At what point does Blizzard become cheaper than Snow Day?** At $21,667 a month in affiliate revenue, where both plans bill $899. Above that the 3% you stop paying exceeds the $650 step between the plans, and the saving grows with volume.

**What is the 3% charged on?** Affiliate revenue as Social [Snowball](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball) attributes it, not your total revenue and not the commission you pay out. Ask for the attribution rules before you model the bill, because coupon-code orders and refund handling both move that base.

**What does the $899 plan include that the $249 plan does not?** TikTok Shop, creator search and outreach, social listening, UGC, Instagram DM chat, white-glove onboarding, a dedicated CSM, and the removal of usage charges.

**How many reviews does Social Snowball have?** The live listing showed 4.5 stars from 211 reviews on 8 October 2026: 190 five-star, 8 four-star, 5 three-star, 3 two-star and 5 one-star.

## Price the plan against the revenue, then negotiate the floor

The published ladder here has one decision in it and the decision is arithmetic. Everything else about Social [Snowball](https://apps.shopify.com/social-snowball), the creator tooling, the payout rails, the post-purchase capture, is a judgement about whether you run an influencer programme or an affiliate programme.

Take last month's attributed affiliate revenue and multiply by 0.03. If the result cleared $650, you have been paying for Blizzard without having it.
