# How Boody Japan drove 2,200+ assisted orders after leaving Yotpo

## Results

- **2,200+** assisted orders in 4.5 months
- **¥22M+** assisted revenue
- **42%** of issued points redeemed

> *"What we can't fix is if points are not accumulating properly." **- Ricky Clennar, Boody Japan**, on the launch call*

CHALLENGE

## Leaving Yotpo without customers noticing

[Boody](https://www.boody.co.jp/) makes bamboo underwear, bras, and basics. In Japan, the brand sells online and through stores, and its loyalty program, [BOODY Club](https://www.boody.co.jp/pages/boody-club), [ran on Yotpo](https://joy.so/yotpo-alternative/). Every member had a points balance and a tier to protect.

On 12 May 2026 the Boody Japan team set a launch date for the move to Joy: 24 May. Twelve days.

Ricky Clennar, who ran the switch on Boody's side, set one rule on the final call, and it outranked everything else:

> *"If we don't announce it to customers, it'll only be a small few customers who engage with it. So we can fix that after launch. What we can't fix is if points are not accumulating properly, and the last thing I want to do is create extra headaches for our already thinly spread customer support team." **- Ricky Clennar, Boody Japan***

Joy wasn't the only option on the table. Boody compared [Joy's Widget v4](https://ghost.joy.so/widget-v4-storefront/) with Klaviyo Customer Hub as the account experience, feature by feature, and chose the widget.

SOLUTION

## Moving every member without resetting anyone

Boody's tiers run on [rolling 12-month spend](https://help.joy.so/membership/vip-tiers/tier-assessment/): Bronze on sign-up, Silver from ¥25,000, Gold from ¥60,000. The Yotpo export listed each customer's current tier. Importing it would have been fast.

Ricky spotted the problem on the launch call. A customer who reached Silver eleven months ago should drop to Bronze next month unless she spends again. Import her tier as a fresh row and she gets twelve more months at Silver. Multiply that by the whole list:

> *"Otherwise we give everyone a free 12 months at their current tier." **- Ricky Clennar***

So Joy synced Boody's orders back to 1 May 2025 and [recalculated every tier from real spend](https://help.joy.so/migration/migrate-tiers/). Each customer landed in the right tier, with the right expiry date and the right progress toward the next one. Point balances came over separately from the Yotpo export, so the sync moved tiers and nothing else. The button that runs this sync can only be pressed once per store, which is why nobody pressed it until the start date was agreed out loud on the call.

## A loyalty program that looks like Boody

Phase one asked for a copy of the Yotpo-era page. By launch day, Ricky's read was that they had more than a copy:

> *"Whatever we've got now is the same or better than what we've got with Yotpo in some cases." **- Ricky Clennar***

### The BOODY Club page, built from Joy blocks

The page at [boody.co.jp/pages/boody-club](https://www.boody.co.jp/pages/boody-club) is assembled from Joy's loyalty page blocks: a sign-up banner, a three-step explainer, ways to earn, ways to redeem, member ranks, referral and FAQ. Joy's onboarding team built it on a draft theme, block by block, while the Yotpo program stayed live. Every block picks up the store's own typeface, and the buttons use the same forest green as the rest of boody.co.jp, so the page reads as part of the shop.

The details carry the brand. The step numbers 01, 02, 03 sit in the sage green of the store's announcement bar. Earning cards are soft cream tiles with rounded corners and thin line icons.

[Member ranks](https://help.joy.so/on-site-content/loyalty-landing-page/vip-tier-benefits/) get the most design attention. Each tier has its own colour band, taupe for Bronze, grey for Silver, sand for Gold, under a leaf mark taken from the Boody logo. On desktop the three sit side by side, so a Bronze member sees exactly what Silver adds. On a phone they turn into a swipeable card carousel instead of a long stack.

### A widget that stays out of the way

[Widget v4 opens as a sidebar](https://help.joy.so/on-site-content/branding/widget-v4/) from the right edge, with the Boody logo on top and the store still visible behind it. The header account icon opens it too, and signing in brings customers back to the page they were on. Guests see a single welcome card with two actions: log in or join. Below it, each way to earn is a quiet row: line icon, one sentence, and the points value aligned right, so a customer scans the whole program in a few seconds.

![Three phone screens of Joy Widget v4 on boody.co.jp for a signed-in member: home with a 500-point balance and Bronze progress toward Silver, a referral screen with a personal link and copy button, and recommended products above recent activity](https://cdn-web.joy.so/cdn/image/2026/09/Boody-mobile-d2541f.png)

Boody chose what to leave out as carefully. Rewards are redeemed at checkout, so the widget shows no reward catalogue at all, only a link that explains how to spend points there. A brand that wants customers browsing rewards inside the widget will want a different setup.

[Referral takes one screen](https://joy.so/referral-program/): what you get and what your friend gets side by side, 1,000 points and a ¥1,000 coupon, then one email field and one button.

### Reviews that earn points only for real buyers

Boody collects reviews through [Judge.me](https://joy.so/integrations/judgeme/) and wanted points to go only to customers who had bought the product they reviewed. With a few hundred reviews coming in a day, approving each one by hand was never an option.

Joy first rewarded reviews on Judge.me's verified-buyer status. That status arrived by webhook, and the webhook didn't always fire, so some genuine buyers waited for points that never came. Joy changed the check: a review now earns when the reviewed product appears in that customer's Shopify order, and a daily sweep picks up any review whose webhook went missing. Reviews missed before the change were found and rewarded.

The rule stays strict on purpose. Knowing a buyer's email isn't enough to earn review points, so nobody can post under someone else's name for a reward. [Reviews also show inside the widget](https://help.joy.so/on-site-content/branding/widget-v4/joy-and-judge-me-reviews/), next to the ways to earn.

RESULTS

## What happened in four and a half months

From launch on 26 May to 14 September 2026:

- **2,178 assisted orders**, orders placed with a loyalty reward or through a referral.
- **¥21.76M in assisted revenue.**
- **42% of the points Joy issued have been redeemed.**
- **33,500+ BOODY Club members on Joy**, every Yotpo balance and tier carried over.

## Why it worked

Boody treated [the migration](https://joy.so/migration/) as a customer-service problem first. Points, tiers and refunds had to be right before any page changed. Joy's job was to carry that out, then make the program look like it had always belonged on [boody.co.jp](https://www.boody.co.jp/).

The bigger decisions are still coming. Boody is already planning the next version of [BOODY Club](https://www.boody.co.jp/pages/boody-club), and the first question on the table is how long points should last.
