# Add customers and products without leaving Joy

## Why this matters

You can now add and edit customers, products, and collections directly inside Joy. When a record is missing while you set up a program, a modal opens in place, so you finish the setup without switching to Shopify admin.

### Create a missing product mid-setup

Add a product with its title, description, price, inventory, and publishing channels from any product selection field. It is available to select as soon as you save.

### Add and update customers from Joy

Create a customer with name, email, phone, and tags from the Customers dashboard or a Customer Detail page. The record saves directly to Shopify, and you can update contact details, notes, and tags later without leaving Joy.

### Manage collections while configuring rewards

Create a collection or update an existing one when you configure a collection-based reward. The modals are built on Shopify's native interface, so fields and validation match Shopify admin.

> The next time a product is missing while you set up a free gift program, click Add next to the search field and create it there.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Open a selection screen

Go to any page in Joy that involves customer or product selection.

### Step 2: Click Add

Click the **Add** button next to the search field, or use **Add customer** in the action bar on the Customers page.

### Step 3: Fill in the details

Complete the fields in the modal. All standard Shopify fields are supported.

### Step 4: Save the record

Save to create the record in Shopify. It is immediately available to select.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need to open Joy inside Shopify admin?

Yes. The add and edit modals work only when Joy runs embedded in Shopify admin. They are not available when you open Joy in a standalone browser tab.

### Do customers I add in Joy join my loyalty program?

Yes. Joy creates the customer in Shopify and syncs them into your loyalty program right away.

### Do product edits made in Joy update my Shopify store?

Yes. Changes to products and collections save to Shopify and show in Joy as soon as you confirm them.
