# Your loyalty program now has a direct line to your customers' lock screen

## Why this matters

Joy now sends loyalty notifications to the lock screen through the Apple or Google Wallet pass your customers already carry. They see points, tier changes, and expiring rewards as they happen, with no app to install.

### Confirm earned points right away

A customer completes a purchase and a lock-screen notification shows the points they earned. The confirmation arrives while the order is fresh, before they open your store or check email.

### Announce tier changes as they happen

Customers see a tier upgrade on their lock screen right after checkout. A downgrade notification keeps them informed and gives them a reason to come back.

### Remind customers before rewards expire

Expiry notifications tell customers when points or coupons are about to run out. A forgotten reward becomes a reason to visit your store that day.

> Turn on the tier upgrade notification first. Each type switches on independently, so you can keep expiry reminders in email if that already works for you.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Open wallet pass settings

In Joy, go to **Customers** and open **Generate digital loyalty pass**, then choose **Apple Wallet** or **Google Wallet**.

### Step 2: Open the Notifications tab

Select the **Notifications** tab to see each notification type for that wallet.

### Step 3: Turn on and save

Turn on each notification type you want active, then click **Save**.

## Good to know

Customers who already saved your pass receive notifications without re-adding it. There is no charge per notification.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I edit what each notification says?

Yes. Open a notification type to rewrite its default message, and keep the required variables so each message shows that customer's details, such as their new tier.

### Why isn't a customer receiving notifications?

Check that they added your pass and allow Wallet notifications in their phone settings. Google Wallet also limits how many notifications each customer receives per day.

### Can other apps send notifications through the pass?

Yes. Connected apps such as Wishlist Plus and Joy Subscription can notify customers through the same pass under your store's branding, and one toggle turns this on or off.
