# Frictionless Login: Shop App & Email OTP Now Available

## Why this matters

Customers can now sign in to your loyalty widget without a password. [Shop App login and email one-time codes](https://help.joy.so/features/sso-login-guide) take them to their points and rewards in fewer steps, and you can enable one method or both.

### Sign customers in through Shop

Customers tap "Sign in with Shop App", authenticate in the Shop app, and return to your widget logged in. The widget updates without a page reload.

### Offer a one-time email code

Customers enter their email, receive a 4-digit code, and enter it to sign in. They have no password to remember or recover.

### Cut password-reset requests

Neither method uses a password, so customers have nothing to reset. Your support team handles fewer forgotten-login emails for the loyalty widget.

> Turn on **Sign in with Shop App**, then open your loyalty widget and sign in the way a customer would. You return to the widget logged in, with your rewards in view.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Turn on Shop sign-in

In Joy, open **Settings → Additional Features** and switch **Sign in with Shop App** on.

### Step 2: Enable Multipass in Shopify

For email codes, go to **Shopify Admin → Settings → Customer accounts → Multipass**, enable it, and copy the **Multipass Secret Key**.

### Step 3: Add the key in Joy

Back in **Settings → Additional Features**, turn on the **Multipass** section, paste the key, and click **Save**. Email OTP then shows in the widget by default.

## Good to know

Email codes have 4 digits, expire in 5 minutes, and work once. Email OTP runs on Shopify Multipass, and the setup guide lists which stores can enable it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which sign-in method works with Shopify's new customer accounts?

Only Sign in with Shop App. Email codes run on Shopify Multipass, which works only with legacy customer accounts, so Joy hides them automatically on stores using new customer accounts.

### Is the Multipass secret key stored securely?

Yes. Joy encrypts the Multipass Secret Key at rest and hashes each email code before storing it.

### Can I add Google or Facebook sign-in as well?

Yes. Once Multipass is set up, switch on **Sign in with Google** or **Sign in with Facebook** in the same settings. Joy manages the OAuth connections, so you skip any Google or Facebook developer setup.
