# Your customers post about you on Instagram. Now you can reward them for it.

## Why this matters

[Instagram Story Mention Rewards](https://help.joy.so/reward-programs/earning-programs/social-activity/instagram-story-mention-rewards) detect when a customer tags your brand with the @mention sticker in their Story and add loyalty points to their account automatically. Customers send no forms or screenshots, and you have nothing to review.

### Reward customers who post about you

When a Story goes live with your tag, Joy credits points to that customer's loyalty account. Customers who share your products with their followers are recognized for it inside your program.

### Follow up through Shopify Flow

Chain actions after a mention through Shopify Flow, such as an Instagram DM, an email sequence, or a CRM tag. The mention starts a workflow you design.

### Set limits that fit your program

Set a daily limit per customer or restrict the program to members only. The program also stacks with your other earning programs.

> Add a Shopify Flow step that sends an Instagram DM after each mention. Tell the customer the points they earned and how close they are to a free product.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Connect Instagram

In Joy, open **Integrations → Instagram** and connect your Instagram account.

### Step 2: Create the Story Mention program

Go to **Reward programs → Earning programs → Add program → Social activity**, then select **Mention on Instagram Story** from the event dropdown.

### Step 3: Set the points reward

Set the points customers earn for each mention, along with any limits.

## Good to know

Joy credits points once the customer's Instagram username is matched to a loyalty account. Customers add their username through Joy's loyalty widget.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can customers post the Story from a computer?

No. Instagram supports Story creation only in its mobile app, so customers post the Story with your @mention sticker from their phone.

### What if a customer changes their Instagram username?

They update it in your loyalty widget. Joy credits points only when the username on file matches the account that posted the mention.

### Where can I see the mentions customers have posted?

In **Customers → Activities**, filter by the Story Mention program to view each mention.
