# Joy now connects to Claude and ChatGPT: ask your loyalty program anything

## Why this matters

Make loyalty decisions while the question is still fresh. [Connecting Joy to Claude or ChatGPT](https://help.joy.so/settings/developers/connect-claude-and-chatgpt/) puts your current points, tiers, reward rules, and performance inside the conversation, so you can investigate an issue and discuss the next action without assembling the context by hand.

### Answer customer questions with current data

Look up a member's balance, tier, or available rewards from the conversation. Your team spends less time copying records between tools and has the relevant facts in front of them before responding.

### Evaluate a change against your program

Ask about redemption patterns or tier performance, then explore a specific adjustment. The discussion starts from your live rules and results, giving you a concrete basis for deciding what to investigate or change.

### Keep routine actions close to the decision

With Full access, supported changes such as point adjustments or coupon issuance stay in the same conversation and require your approval. Read-only access keeps reporting and analysis available without granting those write permissions.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Create an access key

In Joy, open **Settings → Developers**. Generate a Read-only key for questions, or a Full access key for approved changes.

### Step 2: Copy your MCP server URL

Find the URL in the AI Connections section.

### Step 3: Connect your assistant

Add the URL as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT, then approve the connection.

### Step 4: Ask about your program

Ask a specific question, such as "Which rewards are available for Gold members?"

## Frequently asked questions

### Can the assistant change my loyalty program on its own?

No. A Read-only key only lets the assistant view your loyalty data and answer questions. A Full access key allows supported actions, and each one runs only after you approve it.

### Is my API key visible in the conversation?

No. The key stays private to the connection, and you can revoke access at any time from **Settings → Developers** in Joy.

### Can I connect assistants other than Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. Joy works with AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so other MCP-compatible assistants can connect the same way.
