# Loyalty Program Metrics: The Numbers That Prove Your ROI

## Why this matters

See whether your loyalty program earns more than it costs. [Joy Analytics](https://help.joy.so/analytics/) sets the revenue the program touches beside the cost of its rewards, across the Overview, Revenue, Members, Rewards and Referral tabs.

### Measure revenue against reward cost

Revenue by Joy totals the sales from orders where a customer earned or redeemed. Loyalty Revenue Share shows that as a share of store revenue, and Return on Reward divides it by reward cost.

### Compare members with non-members

AOV Lift compares the average order value of members and non-members. Redeemers vs. Non-Redeemers does the same for customers who claimed a reward, on repeat purchase rate and customer lifetime value.

### Catch points that go unspent

Redemption Rate is the share of earned points customers spend, and Breakage Rate is the share that expires unused. Current Point Balance puts a monetary value on points still in circulation.

> **Try this**
> Open the Overview tab and read Return on Reward next to AOV Lift. One shows revenue against reward cost, the other whether members spend more per order.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Open Analytics

In the Joy app, click **Analytics** in the left-hand menu. If a banner appears, click **Preview** to open the redesigned page.

### Step 2: Set the filter

In the filter bar, choose a date range, a VIP tier or a Shopify tag. The filter applies to every chart on every tab.

### Step 3: Read the tooltip

Hover the **?** next to a metric to see what it means and how it is calculated.

### Step 4: Export the report

Click **Export** in the filter bar and enter your email address. Joy emails a link to an Excel file with a data dictionary.

## Good to know

Retention Rate and Current Point Balance are calculated all-time and ignore the date filter. Return on Reward counts every loyalty-assisted order, including ones customers would have placed anyway.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the redesigned page show data from before I switched?

Yes, except for a few brand-new widgets. Those only have data from the day you upgrade onward, because they weren't tracked before.

### Does my filter reset when I leave the page?

No. Joy remembers your selection automatically, so the filter stays put after a refresh, after navigating away, or after reopening your browser.

### Does a member spending gap prove the program works?

Not by itself. Your best customers are the most likely to join, so part of that gap is selection. The stronger signal is whether spending rises after a customer joins, and whether redeemers outperform non-redeemers over time.
