# A referral is only as good as where its link lands.

## Why this matters

Send every referred friend to the right storefront. With [multiple region rewards](https://help.joy.so/reward-programs/referrals#rewards-by-region) turned on, Joy builds each customer's referral link for their own Shopify market, so a Czech customer shares a link to your Czech store in the right language and currency.

### Run one campaign across every market

Send a single refer-a-friend newsletter to your whole list. Each customer's link opens their own market's storefront, whether your markets run on subfolders or on their own domains.

### Cover existing customers with no extra setup

Joy reads each customer's market from their address and matches it to your Shopify Markets setup. Existing customers' links regenerate in the background, and new customers get the right link from sign-up.

### Override a customer's market yourself

Set the Market row in a customer's Membership details when they have moved or their address points to the wrong market. The referral link regenerates on save, and your per-region reward amounts stay as configured.

> Open a customer from each market and read the Market row in Membership details. It shows Czechia (auto) when Joy resolved the market, and Default when the country matches no market yet.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Open the Referrals program

In Joy, go to **Reward programs → Referrals**.

### Step 2: Enable multiple region rewards

Tick **Enable multiple region rewards** under the program name, then click **Save**.

### Step 3: Check a customer's market

Open any customer and find the **Market** row in **Membership details**.

### Step 4: Override the market if needed

Click the pencil, choose **Auto-resolve** or **Override**, pick a market, and save.

## Good to know

Available on the Essential, Advanced, and Ultimate plans for stores that sell through Shopify Markets. If multiple region rewards is already on, Joy has regenerated your links and there is nothing to set up.

## Frequently asked questions

### What if Joy cannot determine a customer's market?

Their link falls back to your default referral link until it can. Joy reads the market from the customer's address, or from their storefront region when they visit.

### Which region's reward does a referral earn?

The referred friend's region. When the friend places an order, Joy reads their region or presentment currency from Shopify and issues that region's reward, or the Default tab's reward if none matches.

### Do I need more than one Shopify market?

Yes. Rewards by region requires Shopify Markets with at least one market besides your default one.
