# Your best in-store moment was going to waste. Now it earns loyalty.

## Why this matters

Bring your loyalty program to the counter. The [Joy Loyalty block in Shopify POS](https://help.joy.so/pos/use-joy-in-shopify-pos-workflow) shows a customer's points on the post-purchase screen and the order details screen, so your staff can tell a customer what an order earned.

### Tell customers what they just earned

After payment, the cashier taps View loyalty points and sees points earned on the order, points redeemed, points pending, and the new balance. That gives staff a line to say out loud at the counter.

### Answer questions about past orders

Pull up any past order and the Joy Loyalty block shows what it earned and redeemed. When a customer asks about points from last week, your staff reads the answer off the screen.

### Choose where the block appears

Activate the block on the screens you want and pick the locations that use it. There is nothing to configure per order, and no script for staff to memorize.

> Activate the block on the post-purchase screen. After the next sale, have your cashier tap View loyalty points and read out the points earned and the new balance.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Open Point of Sale settings

In your Shopify admin, open **Point of Sale → Settings**.

### Step 2: Open the POS editor

Under **Customization**, click the screen you want, such as the post-purchase screen, to open the **POS editor**.

### Step 3: Activate the Joy Loyalty block

Under **Apps**, activate the **Joy Loyalty** block.

### Step 4: Save and choose locations

Click **Save** and choose the locations where the block appears.

## Good to know

Available on the Advanced and Ultimate plans, alongside the rest of Joy's POS toolkit. The block appears only on orders that earned or redeemed points.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do customers earn points on POS orders automatically?

Yes. Registered customers earn points when you process the order as usual, the same way they do in your online store. Joy Loyalty must be installed on your POS device first.

### Can staff see points before the customer pays?

Yes. Once the customer and products are in the cart, the Joy tile on the POS Smart Grid shows their balance and an estimate of the points the order will earn.

### Can customers redeem points at the counter?

Yes. Redemption at checkout is part of Joy's POS toolkit. The customer must already be a loyalty member with a balance available to redeem.
