# Tier assessment reminder: warn members before they drop a tier

## Why this matters

Tier Assessment decides who keeps a VIP tier, but members only found out after they lost it. The new Tier assessment reminder email warns an at-risk member before the review, with what it takes to stay.

### Tell members what it takes to keep their tier

The email shows how much more the member needs to keep the tier, the review date, their current tier and the tier they move to without it.

### One reminder per review, only for members at risk

You choose how many days before the review the email goes out; the default is 30. Members already on track receive nothing, and nobody gets more than one reminder per review.

### Send it through Klaviyo instead

Klaviyo stores can tick the Tier Assessment Reminder trigger in Integration and set their own number of days. Joy sends the event **Joy: Pre Tier Assessment Reminder** to your flow for the same members.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Turn on Tier Assessment

The reminder needs Tier Assessment to be on, with a maintenance threshold saved.

### Step 2: Switch on the email

In Joy, go to **Notifications**, open **Tier assessment reminder** and switch it on. It is off by default.

### Step 3: Set the timing

Set **days before the review**. Joy sends one reminder per review.

## Good to know

Tier Assessment no longer sends the Inactivity tier warning email when it moves a member down a tier.
