# Unused Coupon Reminders -Turn forgotten coupons into orders

## Why this matters

Follow up on redeemed coupons before they expire unused. [Unused coupon reminders](https://help.joy.so/integrations/email-marketing-and-sms/joy-and-klaviyo#unused-coupon-reminders) add two Klaviyo trigger events to Joy: one fires in the days after a customer redeems, the other in the days before the coupon expires.

### Set the reminder days yourself

Add up to five reminder days per trigger to fit your program. Reminders stop as soon as the customer uses the coupon or it expires.

### Keep reminders to one a day

Each customer gets at most one reminder a day, with all their unused coupons bundled into a single event. When both reminders fall on the same day, Joy sends only the before-expire one.

### Send customers straight to the cart

Every reminder carries a Coupon link that applies the discount and opens the cart with the code active. Your email can also show the discount code, reward name, expiry date, and days left.

> Set reminders three and seven days after redeem, and one and three days before expiry. In the before-expire email, show the days left next to the Coupon link.

## How to access and use

### Step 1: Open the Klaviyo integration

In Joy, open **Integrations → Klaviyo**.

### Step 2: Select the reminder triggers

Click **Select triggers**, tick **Joy: Unused Coupon - After Redeem**, **Joy: Unused Coupon - Before Expire**, or both, then confirm.

### Step 3: Set the reminder days

In the **Unused Coupon Reminder** block, add days for each trigger with **+ Add day**, then click **Save**.

### Step 4: Build the Klaviyo flows

In Klaviyo, go to **Flows → Create Flow → Metric-Triggered**, choose the trigger you selected, and set the flow live.

Joy's Klaviyo integration is available on all plans. Turn on Smart Sending in Klaviyo to keep customers with coupons across several days to one email a day.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do coupons without an expiry date get reminders?

Yes, from After Redeem only. That trigger applies to all redeemed coupons, while Before Expire skips coupons without an expiry date.

### Why can't I find the trigger in Klaviyo?

A metric appears in Klaviyo only after its first event fires. Save your settings in Joy and let one reminder trigger, or fire a test event first.

### Why isn't an expected reminder email going out?

Check both sides. Confirm the trigger is enabled in Joy, then check that the matching flow is live in Klaviyo.
